Here are 3 easy tips on combating mold.
Tip 1- Box Humidity
Humidity inside the house can be one of the major causes of recurring mold growths. Sometimes the humidity can be increased due to the weather or rains. The wet air inside the house then becomes a perfect place for molds to thrive. You can box out humidity with a blow of dehumidifier. Make sure you set your dehumidifier at the correctly by keeping humidity below 55 percent. Most importantly keep ventilation and exhaustion fans on in the kitchen and bathroom. Simple acts like keeping surface dry, watering plants sparingly, using air-conditioning and drying clothes outside can also be helpful in keeping humidity low.
Tip 2 – Kick the Leaks
One great place for molds to hide is where pipes leak. Some common signs of molds growing under the sinks and pipes can be the smell and sight as well. Grout between tiles, water stains, and strong stench are all indications of presence of mold. Locate the problem and fix the leaks and make repairs. Make inspections every now and then to check leakage as a preventive measure.
Tip3 – Fight the Dirt
Whatever the size of the mold may be, it has to be cleaned up. Gather your weapons of cleaning agents like bleach, borax, detergents and scrubber; fight off the dirt by scrubbing, washing, spraying and wiping. Strike the attack on surfaces that commonly catch mold and on areas where moisture needs to be controlled. Prevention is better than cure so make sure you eliminate any chances of mold invasion.
