There are so many reasons really but here are just a few….

Most people don’t realise that moving furniture correctly is actually very hard work, dangerous in terms of getting hurt, and it is ridiculously easy to damage furniture and the premises’ you are removing it from. Like anything in life that people do for a living, they in turn get good at it. Removalists may move 500 or so fridges a year for example compared to a person that has possibly never done it even once…

People also often pull in favours with all their friends getting them to help. This can put other people in danger of hurting themselves, taking their time up as well your own, then you have to repay them in some way.

People without experience trying to save a few dollars can end up costing themselves more than they expected. For example they may do 5 trips in their cars over a few days that probably adds up to a whole working day, plus petrol etc. Whereas those 5 trips in a car account to probably 1-2 hours maximum of 2 professional removalists doing it properly, without damage, and almost definitely the cheaper option when taking all the factors into account.

Other people try renting trucks from places which cost around $200 plus normally. This usually costs more again for full comprehensive insurance! Most people don’t opt for this option which is really really dangerous. It is rumoured that a lot of these rental places make serious money from people renting trucks that have no experience driving large vehicles, then having accidents and getting charged an absolute fortune to fix them! I met a customer that this actually happened to. He had an accident and the box of the truck got damaged and he had to fork out $6,000 for repairs to the rental company, when in fact you can get the whole box built brand new for that price. Even if you don’t have an accident, you are looking at $200, plus fuel, plus a day or so of your own time, then you still don’t have the proper equipment! You need a decent hand trolley, tie downs, furniture blankets to protect your things etc.

Most people we move are happy and some even say that they would never move without removalists again. As long as you get a competitive rate, and go with a decent removals company it’s honestly not worth doing it yourself. Let someone like…All The Right Moves do it for you! We take the stress out of moving.
